HMH-Pediatric Rheumatology-Hackensack
Ginger Janow, MD, MPH, is a pediatric rheumatologist in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital, and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Since completing residency and fellowship over a decade ago, she has been an active part of the division taking care of patients with a spectrum of rheumatologic diagnoses including (but not limited to) juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and juvenile dermatomyositis. Her primary research focus has been on juvenile idiopathic arthritis with a specific interest in ultrasound of the inflamed joint.
When she is not participating in direct patient care, she can often be found teaching medical students, residents or fellows; she is the program director for the Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship, the first of its kind in New Jersey. By increasing the number of learners interested in pediatric rheumatology and training fellows, she hopes to improve care for pediatric rheumatology patients across the country.
Philosophy of Care
Patient care in pediatrics is a true collaboration. Even when a parent and I do not see eye to eye, I know that we both have the patient's best interest in mind, and this is an amazing platform to launch a meaningful team effort. Parents and children need and deserve to feel and be listened to. I relish the opportunity I am given to be a part of their lives and to try to make it better in a way that we can all agree upon.
