Kevin E Crutchfield, MD

Dr. Kevin Crutchfield is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in vascular neurology, sports neurology and concussion care, as well as the use of cerebrovascular ultrasound. He is a clinical professor of Neurology at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
Dr. Crutchfield has 35 years of experience treating adults who experience stroke, concussion, and brian injury. He performs specialized procedures including cerebral hemodynamic monitoring with ultrasound and cranial nerve blocks for post-traumatic pain. His clinical interests include understanding the impact of disease and injury on blood flow within the brain, and he holds eight patents for vascular neurology technologies.
He has served as a neurology consultant for professional sports teams including the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles, DC United Soccer, Chesapeake Bayhawks Lacrosse, and DC Divas Football. He also is a founding member of the Mackey-White Health and Safety Committee of the NFL Players Association, which helps to develop safety guidelines for the NFL, and served as a brain injury consultant for U.S. Special Forces through the Department of Defense.
Dr. Crutchfield earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his neurology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He then completed a metabolic neurology fellowship at The National Institutes of Health and transcranial doppler fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Crutchfield has earned “top doctor” recognitions in regional and national publications. He has contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications to medical literature and has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings. He is passionate about educating members of his community about brain injury and concussion, and has served on numerous volunteer committees dedicated to athlete safety.
Dr. Crutchfield is a member of the American Academy of Neurology Stroke Subsection and Sports Neurology Subsection, the American Heart Association Stroke Council, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Physiological Society, and the American Society of Neuroimaging Board of Directors.
