Krupa Shah Pandey, MD


Krupa Pandey, M.D., is a fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in demyelinating diseases. She is the director of the Comprehensive Care Center for Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center. She also holds an associate professor of Neurology faculty position at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
She cares for patients with multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica, myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease disorder (MOGAD), transverse myelitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, neurosarcoidosis, autoimmune encephalitis and related conditions. She offers treatments including botulinum toxin injections for spasticity and migraine, as well as intrathecal baclofen pump management.
MS and related disorders are complex. Patients require individualized care plans that are designed to meet physical, cognitive and emotional needs, optimize treatment modalities and sustain quality of life. Dr. Pandey works side-by-side with an integrated team from such specialties as neuropsychology, health psychology, neuro-urology, neuro-ophthalmology, sleep disorders, headache and pain management, neurorehabilitation as well as psychiatrists specializing in physical, occupational and speech therapies.
Research is a passion of Dr. Pandey’s. She actively participates in clinical trials, serving as both principal investigator and sub investigator in close to 20 different site clinical trials over the course of her career. As Clinical Director of the Research Division at Hackensack Meridian Neuroscience Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center she strives to educate patients on the availability of applicable clinical trials. She works with each patient and their care partner(s) to identify obstacles they may encounter and assists with enrollment where applicable.
A graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Dr. Pandey earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. She then completed her Neurology residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., serving as chief resident during her final year. She went on to complete a Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY.
Dr. Pandey serves as a board member for the National MS Society’s Board of Trustees. In 2019, she received the chapter’s Healthcare Professional Volunteer Award in recognition of her commitment to serving people with MS throughout the community. Dr. Pandey is also a past recipient of the Brigham and Women’s/Partners Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Fellowship Research Award and National Multiple Sclerosis Society Clinical Fellowship Award.
Throughout her career, Dr. Pandey has contributed original publications, abstracts and book chapters to medical literature and has presented posters at national meetings of the American Academy of Neurology, Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers and more. She currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine.
