Sean McKay, MD

Dr. Sean McKay, originally from Chicago, Illinois, earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Chicago. Inspired by the bravery of first responders and the U.S. military after the events of September 11, he joined the Navy. Dr. McKay served for over 21 years in the Navy, working in 16 countries and holding various leadership positions. These included Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, advisor to the Navy Surgeon General, Pulmonologist for the White House, and Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit at the NATO Role 3 hospital in Afghanistan. Currently, Dr. McKay has a strong interest in academic medicine and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He brings a wealth of experience to Hackensack University Medical Center in his roles as teaching faculty and Associate Director of Interventional Pulmonology.
