Benjamin J. Golas, M.D., FACS is board-certified in complex surgical oncology and is the Chief of Surgical Oncology of the Central Region for Hackensack Meridian Health. Dr. Golas provides surgical care for patients with cancers of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, stomach, intestines, and abdominal cavity, in addition to melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma.
Dr. Golas is a nationally recognized leader in the field of surgical oncology who has treated thousands of patients, published extensively in high impact peer-reviewed journals, conducted important cancer research, delivered many invited lectures, and mentored numerous medical students and surgical trainees. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Golas served as Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology for the Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Golas is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
Dr. Golas has extensive experience treating all types of complex cancers. His clinical and research interests include:
- Cancers of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, stomach, intestines, and abdominal cavity
- Malignant melanoma
- Sarcoma (soft tissue/retroperitoneal)
- Minimally invasive surgery (robotic/laparoscopic)
- Cytoreductive surgery with heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC)
- Microwave ablation of liver tumors
