Killol Patel, MD


Killol Patel, M.D., is a highly accomplished board certified and fellowship trained physician who specializes in Interventional Pulmonary, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Patel is the Chief of Interventional Pulmonary and Director of the Severe Emphysema Program in the Central Region at Hackensack Meridian Health. He has extensive experience with robotic endobronchial navigation, EBUS, endobronchial valve placement for lung volume reduction and persistent bronchopleural fistulae, endobronchial cryotherapy, endobronchial thermoplasty, endobronchial stent placement and fiducial placement among other IP procedures. He also leads JFK University Medical Center’s COPD program and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients with COPD.
Dr. Patel previously served as the Director of Interventional Pulmonary Services and Director of the Lung Nodule and Incidental Nodule Programs at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Dr. Patel's vast experience also includes serving as the Director of Interventional Pulmonary Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in NJ. He has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine since January 2018.
With a passion for teaching, Dr. Patel has also been actively involved in training residents and fellows throughout his career, receiving recognition as the Teaching Attending of the Year in 2020 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and in 2016 at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonary, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and American College of Physicians. Dr. Patel has conducted extensive research and presented posters on topics on the spectrum of Pulmonary medicine. He strives to provide the highest quality treatments and makes it a priority to share his knowledge and experience with his patients.
