Dena Arumugam, MD, FACS, is a board-certified gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon specializing in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques. She offers comprehensive surgical weight loss management, including the use of weight loss medication, and is also certified in obesity medicine. Dr. Arumugam’s expertise extends to a wide range of inpatient & outpatient general surgical procedures, including hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and other abdominal surgeries. Patients appreciate Dr. Arumugam’s attentive, caring approach and her commitment to developing personalized surgical plans tailored to their individual needs.
Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Arumugam held leadership, research, and volunteer positions within the medical field, including roles as an Instructor at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center Department of Surgery and Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Her extensive research background encompasses a variety of general surgical diseases, with a particular focus on optimizing outcomes after bariatric surgery. Dr. Arumugam is dedicated to providing safe, exceptional care using the most advanced tools and techniques. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the Obesity Medicine Association.
